The story of Arjuna welcomed the arrival of the participants at the International Student Summit (ISS) at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) in Batu City. Attended by 200 foreign students, the agenda was a gala dinner held at the Arjuna Wiwaha Sendratari on 28 November 2022. The guests and students were also welcomed directly by the Mayor of Batu, Dewanti Rumpoko.

Interestingly, the show tells of Arjuna, who is imprisoned in Mahameru. He did this in order to get the ultimate weapon and supernatural powers from the gods to face Batarayudha's war. Unfortunately, at the same time, the heaven where the gods live is being torn apart by a giant named Niwatakawaca. The gods were confused and ran and looked for who could beat the giant.

Until finally, God Indra saw Arjuna, who was meditating and gave him supernatural powers and arrows, pasopati. He was also asked to defeat Niwatakawaca with the help of Dewi Supraba. Finally, they managed to win the battle, and Niwatakawaca was defeated. The story successfully seduced the UMM ISS participants. Especially with the addition of contemporary elements that don't make you bored.

On the same occasion, Dewanti said that even though Batu is a small town, it has extraordinary beauty. Not only the scenery but also agricultural and plantation products and abundant tourism. According to him, when students are tired and bored with assignments, Batu City is the right destination with all its advantages.

"Welcome to UMM ISS participants. The Arjuna Wiwaha Ballet is also a place of pride for us and the tourism agency. Here, dance and drama arts polished by artists in Batu will be displayed. Tonight, you will also witness an interesting story presented by a dance studio," he said.

Meanwhile, Vice Rector IV of UMM, Dr. Sidik Sunaryo, M.Sc. M. Hum. invites ISS participants to be happy. According to him, that night became one of the memorable moments for foreign students, especially with the cultural and dance performances presented.

He was also grateful for the opportunity given to UMM to host the 2022 ISS. As destination cities, Malang and Batu have a variety of cultures. This diversity is created because of the arrival of various people from all provinces in Indonesia who are studying or working.

"The arrival of foreign students from 46 countries will also add to the diversity in Malang. I hope that foreign students who come to the ISS 2022 program can have fun and enjoy the various offerings provided for the next three days," concluded Sidik. (cdr/wil)
