The Election of UMM Vice-Chancellor Forwarded The Deliberation

After the election of Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd as the Chancellor of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang for the second time, the academic community of White Campus would have new vice-Chancellors for 2020-2024 periods. In the UMM Senate Session for the Election of UMM Vice-Chancellor (Pilwarek) which was held on Tuesday (10/3), several names of Vice-Chancellor candidates had been listed. They would be chosen as the Vice-Chancellor I, II, and III.

The election process was conducted by deliberation. The deliberation ran with wisdom, democracy, and a family atmosphere. It was agreed by one of the UMM Senate Members, Dr. Ahmad Juanda, M.M., Ak., CA. “Despite the election done by deliberation, it doesn’t mean it kills our democracy. This decision shows our maturity,” said Juanda.

In agreement with Juanda, other UMM senate members Dr. Sulardi, SH., M.Si. also emphasized that the importance of co-working. The compactness, mentioned by the Faculty of Law lecturer, became a principal to build the dignified institution. With the result that, when all the people step outside from the forum, no one feels winning or losing anything. We all together built the University of Muhammadiyah Malang to be a more respected university,” firmed Sulardi.

Based on the results of the mutual agreement, all the UMM senate members decided the election was organized by deliberation. This was following article 7: The Process of Election, Consideration, and Determination of Vice-Chancellor Candidates number 4 in the Procedure for Election, Consideration, and Determination of UMM Vice-Chancellor Candidates for the 2020-2024 Term (UMM Regulation No.1 of 2020).

Meanwhile in article 7 number 9, in the selection of UMM Vice-Chancellor Candidates conducted by deliberation, then the UMM Senate could determine at least 1 (one) nominee name in each of Field I, II, III to be proposed to the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership. “The results of the vice-Chancellor election is appointed in the UMM senate decree,” revealed the chairperson, Dr. Tongat, SH., M.Hum.

On this occasion, The Chief of Daily Executive Board (BPH) UMM Prof. Drs. H. A. Malik Fadjar, M.Sc. left a message to all the senate members, the senate representatives, and Student Executive Board to constantly keep the solidity in building the even better UMM near future. Besides that, Malik also advised to always bring UMM committed to serving the nation. (adq)
