The 35th event of Scientific Students' National Week (Translated: Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional) is going to be held at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang from 30th November until 4th December, and many participants from various regions and universities will attend. Besides, UMM has also prepared many things to ensure the event goes smoothly. One is the logo and mascot design of PIMNAS 35, named Panji.
The Head of the Bureau of Information and Communication of UMM, Ir Suyatno, M. Si. and the preparation team initiated the design of Panji. Uniquely, the Panji gives attractive but philosophical values. Its astronaut's helmet depicts students as scientists, while Panji's mask symbolises the artwork of Malang regions, Malangan Mask Dance, with the leading actor being a knight named Panji Asmoro Bangun.
Suyatno explained, "This character has an assertive, gentle, smart, and wise personality in taking decisions. On the other hand, his green face reflects those characteristics."

The man who serves as a lecturer at UMM also interpreted the tie and suit Panji wears. Firstly, the aforementioned attributes portray students' professionalism as an intellectual generation and a leading candidate for the future. Second, the clothes of Malang mask dancers visualise the Greater Malang. Last, the shoes represent intellectual people who prioritise aesthetics, ethics, and politeness.
Suyatno, with high hope, said, "By choosing Panji as the mascot, we expect all PIMNAS participants from all over the regions to inherit the intelligence and kind values of Panji's Asmoro Bangun. Have a supportive competition! And we hope you get the best results from your effort."
PIMNAS is a yearly competition of the National Achievement Center of the Ministry of Education and Culture in science to involve students' scientific works at the national level. This program creates an academic but competitive atmosphere among Indonesian university students. Besides becoming a discussion of the scientific forum and product communication of students' creation, PIMNAS is also followed by students or team groups of the Students' Creativity Program from all regions in Indonesia.
