The generation that will determine the success of Indonesia in gold in 2045 is the population born between 1980 and 2028. Those who will reach the productive age in the year when Indonesia is 100 years old. This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) RI Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP. in the Sarahsehan Pre-Muktamar Muhammadiyah at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). The plan held on Saturday (3/9) also presented several reliable speakers to stimulate ideas in welcoming the Muhammadiyah congress.
Furthermore, Muhadjir, who also opened the event, emphasized that people of productive age have an important role. If they work productively, their income will flow to three things, self-needs, financing for a non-productive period, and savings. The size of these savings, both in terms of individuals and aggregates, will be a bet for the state to become a developed country.
"If we can take advantage of the demographic bonus and the population's high income, we can become a developed country. If you can't use it, then the demographic bonus will be in vain," said Muhadjir.

He also said that the nation's age of one hundred years is still considered a young age. Even Muhammadiyah is older because it was founded before Indonesia's independence. According to him, Indonesia should have learned many things from the older Muhammadiyah. "Especially if we look at Muhammadiyah's more mature system and personality. It can be a good material for the nation to fix the existing deficiencies," he added.
Also present at the event was the Deputy Governor of East Java, Emil Elistianto Dardak. He said that the Indonesia Gold 2045 document stated that Indonesia is expected to be a developed country, one of the five world economic powers, and has superior human resources. In addition, the level of mastery of science and technology is high, and welfare is better and more equitable.
He explained that according to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Indonesia's economy is currently ranked 15th in the world based on nominal GDP. Meanwhile, from purchasing power parity, Indonesia is already ranked seventh in the world. It is estimated that in 2030 Indonesia will enter the world's top five with a total of 5.42 trillion USD.
According to him, it will likely achieve these top five targets long before 2045. However, it must overcome some challenges immediately. Two are youth unemployment and the threat of future job losses due to technological disruption.
"I am very proud and appreciate one of the solution innovations carried out by UMM by building the Center for Future of Work (CFW) and Center of Excellence (CoE) in the Singhasari special economic zone. It is hoped that CFW and CoE can be the answer so that we can face various challenges in the future. Many national and international stakeholders also support this UMM breakthrough, including world marketing expert Hermawan Kartajaya," he said.
In facing these challenges, Emil believes Muhammadiyah does not just stop at discussions. But also trying to brainstorm ideas and then implement them so that they can provide more comprehensive benefits.
On the same occasion, another exciting thing was conveyed by Habib Huesin Ja'far Al Hadar. According to him, the moderates within Muhammadiyah have been very good. Muhammadiyah is considered inclusive and open to all groups. It has become an early feature since this organization was founded.
Regarding wasathiyah Islam, Habib Ja'far said moderatism or wasathiyah does not mean not taking sides with anyone. However, like the referee who stands in the middle, Muhammadiyah looks to the right and left pretty. Not biased to the right or the left. Muhammadiyah will judge a situation that stands in the right direction. "As for moderation, the most fundamental integral part of Islam. So it's not because of terrorism or radicalism," he said.
Habib Ja'far also mentioned a series of implementations of moderatism in Muhammadiyah. It starts from economic moderation that prevents poverty to moderate education with tens of thousands of educational institutions owned by Muhammadiyah, including UMM and 174 other Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah universities.
Even with moral moderation, as evidenced by high integrity, anti-corruption, discipline, and others. He also rated Muhammadiyah's social moderation very well. It can be seen from its good openness. For example, the percentage of non-Muslim students at the Muhammadiyah Kupang college reaches more than 70%. Then the last three aspects are Muhammadiyah's moderatism in the aspect of da'wah, nationality, and gender.
"Perhaps one input that can be discussed further at the Muhammadiyah congress later is digital moderatism. I often attend digital forums, but meeting Muhammadiyah people who are digital preachers isn't easy. However, the main challenges and battlefields are here. Nearly 63% of those people learn Islam through digital platforms. In fact, according to research, Indonesians spend an average of 8.5 hours on their smartphone. So this is crucial to discuss and find a strategy immediately, "said Habib Ja'far.
On the other hand, Deputy Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center PP Muhammadiyah Rahmawati Husein, P.hD., conveys wasathiyah Islam from a practical perspective of how the humanitarian movement that Muhammadiyah did became part of the form of wasathiyah Islam. She explained that humanity has four principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, and independence.
"Muhammadiyah helping people is not based on religious background or class. However, Muhammadiyah helps based on Al-Maun's theology and humanitarian principles," said Rahmawati.
Not much difference was also conveyed by the Head of the Research Organization for Social Sciences, Humanities, BRIN, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Najib Burhani. He explains historically and politically the meaning of the washathan ummah. "In the context of moving towards a golden Indonesia 2045 later, the meaning of the wasathan ummah that is most suitable for us is how we become the best people," he said. (apg/wil)
