The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) has again improved its educational competence through the renewal of the accreditation of Study Programs (Prodi). The good news came from the Agribusiness Masters Study Program, which managed to get an excellent certification. The accreditation status has been implemented since last Tuesday (10/5).
Head of the Agribusiness Masters Department, Prof. Dr. Lili Zalizar, M.S., Explains that several assessment criteria need to be completed to reach the excellent stage. The National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) pays attention to the quality of Human Resources (HR) within the Department's scope.
"Alhamdulillah, all lecturers in the Masters of Agribusiness Study Program have taken their undergraduate education (S3), and six of them have even won the title of professor. Many lecturers have served as head lectors. In addition to human resources, to monitor and improve the quality of education, White Campus also has an Internal Quality Assurance Agency (BPMI), which is very helpful. That way, the quality of education at UMM can be guaranteed," said the lecturer from Subang, West Java.
Not only focusing on improving human resources, Lili said that the study program also encouraged scientific publications from lecturers. Even from the students. Not only are publications in the media, but students are also supported to publish their scientific papers in accredited national and international journals.
"To encourage scientific publication efforts, each course has an output in the form of publication of scientific articles, books, articles, and journals. The campus also gives prizes to students who have published their work. In addition, to increase our knowledge, we also participate in international conferences organized by the White Campus postgraduate directorate every year," explained Lili.
Regarding the increase in accreditation that the Agribusiness Masters Department has obtained, Lili said that this achievement could not be separated from the hard work of all parties. Not only from study programs and campuses but this achievement can also be achieved thanks to the commitment of students and alumni.
"Despite this achievement, we certainly cannot be complacent. The agribusiness master's program will also continue to strive to improve the aspects that are lacking and improve the ones that are already good. Of course, our next target is international certification and accreditation," he concluded. (cdr/syi/wil)
