PWM and UMM Encourage Internationalization of Muhammadiyah School

PARTNERING with Cooperation Agency (LK) Chairman of Muhammadiyah Regional (PWM) of East Java, UMM brought General Consulate from United States (US), Christine Getzler Vaughan, and representatives from Huaqiao University of Tiongkok, Henoch Pradana, at International Cooperation of Muhammadiyah Universities (PTM) Workshop, East Java, on Thursday (9/2) at the UMM Auditorium.

On this occasion, they exposed opportunities of cooperation between US and Chinese for high school and Muhammadiyah Universities(PTM). Thus event was attended by a number of PTM and Muhammadiyah High School (SMAM), Muhammadiyah Vocational High School (SMKM) and Muhammadiyah Elementary School (SDM) regarded as international class.

UMM Rector Assistant of Foreign Cooperation, Soeparto explained, this forum could be an opportunity for the entire Muhammadiyah school in East Java. "Currently, UMM has 23 internship foreign lecturers from 29 countries. Incidentally, Muhammadiyah schools in East Java may invite them to be guest speakers for seminar at each school," Soeparto explained in his speech.

PWM Vice Chairman of East Java, Najib Hamid stated, international cooperation workshop was organized to facilitate the charitable of Muhammadiyah efforts in expanding cooperation with the international community. "This workshop should produce concrete actions and provide more impact for the community," said Najib.

"In long term, all Muhammadiyah schools in East Java can have international cooperation. While in short term, Muhammadiyah schools in East Java can build up international atmosphere internally at each school," he said.

According to Najib, all Muhammadiyah schools sould work together in order to obtain the better results. Hopefully, said Najib, Muhammadiyah school could synergize and build a vibrant education movement. (Jal / han)
