Hundreds of high school students from various regions gathered and competed in the Medscape 2024 event. This is an Olympic competition organized by the Faculty of Medicine at Muhammadiyah Malang University (UMM) in November 2024. The competition featured two subjects: biology and basic medicine.
"We are carrying the theme 'global health challenge in respicarvas.' Our hope is that this event will nurture potential future talents in the healthcare field, particularly high school students participating in the Medscape competition," said the event organizer, Deddy Rifki Pramudya Hasym.
The goal of Medscape is also to enhance the intellect and creativity of young people. In addition, it aims to spark their interest in scientific fields, especially medicine, and to provide them with up-to-date knowledge in the medical field. "This Olympiad started in early November with an online selection process, followed by the final round that brought together schools with the best scores," Deddy added.

The final round was presented in the form of a quiz competition with judges from the UMM Faculty of Medicine. The questions covered a range of topics, including anatomy, physiology, histology, and even biology related to respiration and cardiovascular health. Deddy mentioned that the finalists would compete for various prizes, including a total of IDR 6,500,000 in cash, trophies, certificates, and additional points for admission to UMM's Faculty of Medicine.
"The Medscape 2024 competition on medical biology also aims to highlight the important role of biology in the development of the medical field. We hope this competition will be a stepping stone for participants to achieve even higher accomplishments in the future. We thank all those who have supported this event. We hope this competition will inspire young people to continue learning and creating," he emphasized.
