Celebrating Hardiknas, Hundreds of Elementary Students Get Lecturing at UMM

Students Today Leaders Tomorrow: UMM Rector, Fauzan, pinned the toga on elementary school students of Kids on Campus
 
Carrying the theme of Strengthening Character and Culture, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) celebrated National Education Day (Hardiknas) 2018 in a unique way.
 
Cooperating with Jawa Pos Radar Malang, UMM celebrated Hardiknas 2018 by presenting approximately 460 elementary school (SD) students in Malang Raya to enjoy the experience of studying in college.
 
The activity was packed interestingly in the form of campus exploration. All participants were invited to attend the ceremony of Hardiknas with all UMM academic community. At this moment, every representative of the school gets an opportunity to be pinned a toga by UMM Rector, Fauzan.
 
Then, they visited several laboratories in UMM and was taught by professors, such as Road Laboratory, Drama Laboratory, Agricultural Integrated Laboratory and Animal Husbandry, Communication Science Laboratory, Laboratory of Science and Technology Development Center (PUSPA IPTEK), Power Plant Micro Hydro (PLTMH), and Solar Panels.
 
In addition to commemorating Hardiknas, this event was also held as a responsibility of UMM to foster the dreams and aspirations of Indonesia's young generation who are the future leaders of the nation.
 
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Sidik Sunaryo, at the opening ceremony said that he hoped that this event can encourage children to continue their education to the highest level. He also appreciated the spirit of the students who came to UMM.
 
"I congratulate the younger siblings who participated in celebrating Hardiknas on White Campus," he explained.
 
Hundreds of elementary school students flocked to one laboratory to another. One of the counterparts from SD Kristen Petra, Ferdinis Ferdiansyah, admitted deeply appreciate this activity. For him, UMM is a campus that highly upholds the meaning of cultural differences dealing with the spirit of celebration of Hardiknas 2018.
 
"I am as a representative of a non-Muslim school is very pleased and appreciate this activity, it is a clear proof that UMM strongly upholds the difference," he said.
 
Not only presenting tour around UMM, the agenda titled Kids on Campus also presented KaCa Car when the participants waited their turn into each laboratory. Syaqif Jalaludin Ahmad, one of SD As-Salam students admitted very happy when visiting the Integrated Laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (FPP) of UMM.
 
"Last, to the bakery and nata de coco, learning to make bread but failed, but it's okay. I'm happy now to make bread in the factory," said this fifth grader.
 
The event was closed with a graduation ceremony for all elementary school students. Each student was pinned the gordon like a university graduate as a sign they have passed a one-day lecture at UMM. (ard)
