In commemoration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the RBC Institute Abdul Malik Fadjar UMM, in collaboration with the East Java Regional Leadership of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah (PWNA), successfully held a collaborative event in Malang City on December 3. The event, hosted at SLB-B YPTB, was not only a special moment to celebrate the potential of students with disabilities but also a platform to promote literacy education and environmental awareness through the flagship program, Merdeka Sampah (Freedom from Waste).
As a form of service to the nation, the event featured the Mobil Terbang (Flying Car), a mobile library owned by the RBC Institute. Participants engaged in reading activities, interactive games, and lessons on waste sorting as an effort to cultivate environmental care. The program was designed to raise awareness among the younger generation, particularly children with disabilities, about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability.

Executive Director of the RBC Institute, Subhan Setowara, stated that the event reflects the institution’s role as a driving force for inclusive literacy. "Literacy is not just about reading books; it’s about building awareness of various crucial issues, including the environment. The Mobil Terbang aims to bridge those needs while fostering a love of learning among students with disabilities," he said.
The highlight of the event was an educational session on waste sorting presented with a creative approach. Participants learned to distinguish between organic, inorganic, and hazardous waste (B3) through educational games, making the concept easy to grasp. This session provided an experience that was not only educational but also enjoyable for the students of SLB-B YPTB Malang City.
This collaboration between the RBC Institute and PWNA East Java serves as concrete evidence of their commitment to creating programs that are not only inclusive but also relevant to current challenges. PWNA East Java Chairperson, Nia Ambarwati, expressed her pride in the participants’ enthusiasm. "We must continue to organize activities that bring real benefits to all groups, including students with disabilities who possess extraordinary potential," she said.
