To welcome the political year in 2024, the Smart Reading House (RBC) Institute Abdul Malik Fadjar, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) encourages Muhammadiyah to put forward the politics of ideas. Thus, Muhammadiyah, as part of the government's critical partner, needs to discuss strategic issues.
The Executive Director of RBC UMM, Subhan Setowara, considered that Muhammadiyah should play its function as a mediator between the rulers and the people. It is inseparable from the work that Muhammadiyah has been trying to do, namely, the result of developing human civilization.
"The Indonesian people need this work. Therefore, Muhammadiyah participates in answering current problems, such as the global recession and food crisis, and efforts to advance the people's economy. That is the real politics for Muhammadiyah," he said.
On the other hand, Neni Nur Hayati, Executive Director of the Democracy and Electoral Empowerment Partnership, stated that the 2024 simultaneous elections should be a substantial improvement milestone. It's not just an arena for consultative procedural democracy. "This must be a momentum for democratic transformation to build more ethical, civilized, and moral politics," he said.
According to him, Muhammadiyah must consistently maintain the nation's morals through statesmanship roles. The role of Muhammadiyah can be carried out through efforts to encourage the best cadres of Muhammadiyah to be actively involved in politics because it is part of the mission of Amar ma'ruf nahi munkar.

The distribution of superior Muhammadiyah cadres with political passion is expected to counterbalance adverse movements. Especially in the political years. "The political year in 2024 is predicted to be full of problems such as money politics, political corruption, identity politics, hoaxes, and various other problems," he explained.
However, to be able to distribute the best cadres, Muhammadiyah must work hard. Muhammadiyah needs to prepare its best cadres, including female cadres with the capacity, capability, and quality to be donated to the nation through political parties or run as individual candidates.

The same thing was conveyed by the General Chairperson of the Nasyiatul Aisyiah Central Executive (PPNA), Diyah Puspitasari, at the discussion session. Muhammadiyah's non-partisan position should not be an unequal demarcation line with politics. There needs to be adaptive and solution adjustments to the conditions to prepare the best Muhammadiyah cadres to become the nation's cadres. (cdr/wil)
