ANNUAL Competition in the field of sports, the arts, and the reasoning (intelectual activity) for Rector’s Cup Competition was held back. The Rector (Fauzan) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Officially has opened the Rector Cup event on Saturday (4/3) at UMM dome.
On this event, the Rector Cup took the theme "Students Actualization as Strengthening of National Competitiveness". It was said by Rector Cup Chairman Drs.Wiyono MM as a symbol that through the works and the competitions, the students will be trained to compete (each other) in a positive way. "At this event, students are given the broadest place to express their talents and interests," Wiyono said.
UMM Rector Fauzan in his opening remark advised that each faculties to promote brotherhood not hostility. "The most important thing is not to win the game by sacrificing the enemy but always to prioritize social and humanity dimensions. Keep fairness and mutual respect, always one roof as the UMM students," he said.
After openig officially by beating a gong, Fauzan received alternate cup from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) as a Rector Cup’s Winner last year. This cup will be seized by 10 faculties this year (2017). Rector also took lottery number of volley ball team which competed in the dome soon after the opening.
Rector Cup will be held on March 4 until the next April29. Students from 10 faculties at UMM will compete in 25 branchs of sport, the arts, and reasoning (intelectual activity). Fauzan added that the team which have won certain sports will compete against a team of lecture and staff. "Develop solidarity, keep sportivity,appreciatethe best," Rector said. (Naz)
