Reflection of LK’s 17th Anniversary, Vietnam Students Participate to Play Angklung

Foreign Student Appearance during Art and Culture Expression Night (Maksidaya) event.

REFLECTION of Culture Institution (LK) 17th anniversary event of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was outstanding. There were appearances of some foreign students that played Indonesian traditional musical instruments.

One of them, Le Thi Nhu Lai, a student from Vietnam who admitted very happy in playing angklung musical instrument. According to him, he has no obstacles when practicing angklung, because he enjoyed every process.

"I feel very happy and proud to appear. I memorized the song because I knew it before going to Indonesia," he said on the sidelines the Art and Culture Expression Night (Maksidaya) event on Wednesday , October 18 at Heliped UMM which was held specially as the 17th LK anniversary event.

In addition to the angklung other performances were staged, namely Bedhayan dance, and  local songs that sang by UMM foreign students, as well as Thai dance. There was also a photo exhibition by UMM photography lovers community, Journalistic Photography Club (JUFOC).

Assistant Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr Budi Suprarto MSi expressed his admiration for the consistency of LK UMM in conserving the culture.

"We hope such this event will not only be a show but its existence can strengthen the brand of campus to be known publicly as the campus that never sleep from productivity and creativity," he concluded his speech. (Naz)
