UMM Rector Cup Became a Student Potential Performance Event

The annual event of the RectorCup of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was officially opened by the Assistant Chancellor for Student Affairs, Drs. Joko Widodo, M.Sc. The entire contingent of faculty representatives also enlivened the opening ceremony, at the Dome Hall, Wednesday (3/4). This competition has been held from February 14 to April 4.

With the theme of Achievement and Internationalization, this year 64 races of 24 student activity units were participated in this year. They competed for the rotating trophy of UMM Rector. "This year the enthusiasm of the contingents was huge. They seemed impatient to be the best representatives in this event. I hope the athletes and participants will uphold sportsmanship," Joko said during the opening ceremony.

In line with the slogan, "There is no day without achievements, There are no achievements that are not appreciated" The Rector Cup activities serve as a means of proving one's potential. The contingents have been prepared starting from the selection process by each faculty, is expected to create candidates who are qualified in their fields.

It was different from the previous years because there was a new competition branch, the Race Boat organized by UMM DIMPA by using a lake which was part of the campus facilities. In addition,there is the E-Sport Exibition by opening branches of the PUBG and Mobile Legend electronic game tournaments.

During his speech, the chairman of the RectorCup2020, Frendy Arufantiro, S.Pd M.Pd stated that the last four years of student data, UMM experienced a very rapid increase for its involvement in national level events. From the previous rank 50 and above, in 2019 UMM rank had reached 26th out of 4000 participants in Indonesia.

"So far, the RectorCup activities have always been interpreted by students with a narrow scope. In fact, a lot of achievements in the national and international arena began with this activity," added Frendy.

For this reason, students who have academic and non-academic talents in this performance should not waste this activity. Full appreciation is given to all students who are willing to practice and hone skills. (joh)
