The annual Rector Cup competition at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was officially opened by the Rector Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd, Saturday (4/20) morning. This competition of reasoning, sports and creativity division for UMM students was attended by 24 Student Activity Units which competed in 64 branches of the competition. The various competitions had been started since early April and will end on May 4.
This year, ten faculties at the strata 1 will compete for the prestigious rotating trophy as general champions. A year ago, this trophy was achieved by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). Dr. Rinikso Kartono, M.Sc, Dean of FISIP UMM handed back the trophy to the UMM Rector to be contested again. This submission was welcomed by applause from Rector Cup 2019 participants.
Besides that, in order to accommodate the creativity, competitiveness, and agility of students, continued Fauzan, the Rector Cup became a place to prove themselves that all things can be achieved with hard effort. According to him, many lessons can be taken in the annual competition for competing trophy Rector. "The Rector Cup has been held since the 90s, this is not a short time," said Fauzan.

According to Fauzan, there were benefits that were often missed by the organizer that the champions who were owned by UMM were also born from the learning given during the holding of the Rector Cup. "Winning or losing is not so important. Being a big-souled person must begin to be educated since became students. Through the Rector Cup, all will be trained to be ready to compete, "he said.
The Rector Cup was expected to be the first time to train UMM champion candidate. "Hopefully there will be students who can achieve regionally and nationally," he said. Fauzan along with the Vice Rector I, II and III and the Managing Director of Radar Malang did kick-off which marked the start of this event. Lecturers and employees also competed in football with fellow journalists. (Win)
