The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) always has its ways of encouraging students to be outstanding. One of the attempts to realize this vision is by holding a Student Day which began on November 18. The agenda was directly announced by UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Fauzan M.Pd. and attended by thousands of students.

Interestingly, there are more than 50 student activity units that students can try and join. Starting from football, futsal, basketball, e-sport, golf, film and so on. The participants were also excited to join the morning gymnastics after the opening ceremony.

In his speech, Fauzan said that Student Day activities are held annually to accommodate the potential of students in various fields. Thus, brilliant potential can be developed and is expected to make a great achievement.

"Student Day has been held from years past. Although it was blocked by Covid, it did not stop us from accommodating your potential and interests. Hopefully from this activity, brilliant and superior youths will emerge and grow," he said.

Fauzan also emphasized that freshmen are welcome to express themselves in this year's Student Day. Various things can be tried and can participate until the end of the Student Day process.

There are four areas that are the main focus of this year's Student Day. Starting from creative thinking, innovation, sports and art, to entrepreneurial. All four are expected to produce brilliant academic, leadership and entrepreneurial qualities.

"This is a good preparation for students. Moreover, the White Campus also accommodates their various interests through Students Activity Units, semi-autonomous institutions, intra institutions and others," said Head of the Student Day Committee Dr. Hariyadi, S.Pi, M.Si.

A series of Student Activity Units also performed their attractions and skills. There was the Marching Band with two of its best songs, the Sansekerta with its dance, Tapak Suci with its attractions and others. The excitement made the students feel at home finding the perfect Student Activity Unit for themselves. Among them was a new student of the management program, Paul Teller.

"I was quite puzzled about which Student Activity Unit I wanted to be active in because there are dozens of interesting activities. Not only studying, but you can also develop your hobbies and expand your connections. Hopefully, all new students can find an activity that suits their needs," he concluded. (*ri/wil/put)
