Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) collaborated with the Forum for Interfaith Harmony (FKAUB) Malang to organize a talk show for Youth Across Religions and Beliefs. The event, held on October 31, saw the participation of thousands of attendees from 72 organizations with diverse religious and cultural backgrounds.
These participants came together, showcasing unity and tolerance among young people through various performances, including traditional Indonesian dances, horse dance performances (kuda lumping), recitation of the proclamation text, theatrical performances, and more. The UMM Rector also delivered an engaging poem as part of the event.
National speakers attended the talk show, including Romo Benny Susetyo, Special Staff to the Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Board (BPIP), and Maman Wijayan, Deputy Assistant for Mental Revolution at the Ministry of Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenko PMK RI).
Romo Benny explained that the use of the Indonesian language is one of the factors that strengthen the nation's unity. It serves as a unifying force for the Indonesian people, allowing them to unite despite different ethnicities, races, and religions.
"Communication is crucial. We have a unifying language, which is Indonesian, that fosters a strong sense of kinship. India, for example, where people find it difficult to unite because they lack a unifying language like ours," he said.
Romo Benny also commended UMM for its efforts in promoting interfaith harmony, despite being an Islamic-based campus. He praised the university for fostering inclusivity among its academic community, including its young students.
On the other hand, Maman emphasized that today's youth face challenges related to sceptical thinking and entering the post-truth era. He cautioned young people to remain vigilant against enemies of the Pancasila ideology, even those that may not have a physical presence but can threaten their thought patterns.

"In the past, before independence, our enemy was clear is the colonizers. However, now, our enemy has transformed into an unseen oppressor. I, representing Kemenko PMK RI, must warn you all to be cautious of transnational ideologies," he emphasized.
He pointed out that dangerous transnational ideologies could reintroduce various perspectives, leading to the resurgence of neo-communism and neo-liberalism. Moreover, these ideologies can easily infiltrate the minds of young individuals still developing their logical reasoning.
"Therefore, never tire of acquiring knowledge and strengthening the Pancasila ideology. Immature logical thinking is dangerous, especially if one is not selective in filtering information in the digital age," he concluded. (Faq/Wil/Fajr)
