In social life, it is often the case that there are differences of opinion and misunderstandings. It can occur due to differences in social levels or differences in thinking between each other. For example, in an educational environment, when lecturers give assignments but students do not understand them well.

Despite these differences, collaboration can actually overcome them. It was conveyed by Prof. Dr. Drs. Joko Widodo, M.Si., as the Badan Pembina Harian (BPH) (trans: Daily Advisory Committee) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) in the UMM Ramadan Safari on March 21st. According to him, each generation has a different culture and way of socializing. However, it is not a place to blame and compare each other. However, this difference can be used as a moment to form a new attitude and culture called collaboration.

"Some say that each generation brings its own era. With collaboration and example, Inshaallah we can change for the better," he added.

Furthermore, each generation has its own challenges. For example, the junior generation, or Gen Z is currently overly influenced, disrespectful to their parents, has a high level of knowledge, and follows technological developments. It is different with the senior generation, who still uphold noble values but are less aware of technological developments. It does not mean that one generation is superior to the other, but this can be used as a means to establish a new culture.

Sometimes, the risk of collaborating is that each person's has its own characteristics. Therefore, getting to know each other can minimize the friction between people. It becomes the main key to building relationships. For this reason, the senior generation needs to prepare ways to deal with the younger generation according to their era.

"We should not let the approach we use restrict the junior generation from developing their potential. For example, sometimes parents are protective and refuse to allow their children to pursue their dreams. If this goes on, the child will not have the right to make decisions and will only depend on their parents," he said.

In addition, Joko said that the senior generation should not educate young people with the transactional principle. It means implementing the principle of calculation for what has been done. For example, when doing good, we also expect something in return from the person we helped.

Meanwhile, UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Nazaruddin Malik, M.Si, said that the Safari Ramadan is expected to strengthen the relationship between the UMM community members. Establishing friendship in order to produce a superior generation with Islamic Muhammadiyah insight.

It will bring the transformation of UMM, which prioritizes Islamic values as well as technology, to form the character of a superior young generation. "Finally, it is expected that this Safari Ramadhan can be a guideline for UMM academicians to be able to transform themselves in order to achieve the successful management of university education," he concluded.
