The four pillars supporting a country's sustainable development are social, economic, environmental, and legal. The idea was asserted by the National SDGs Expert Team Coordinator, Yanuar Nugroho, Ph.D., at the SDGs Student Conference 2023 held by the SDGs Center of UMM. Various university students and young people attended the event on March 9, 2023.
Further explaining, he stated that many indicators had been achieved by the SDGs in 2021, around 222. The report indicator shows that 63% of SDGs indicators have been accomplished. In contrast, the rest has not been implemented and needs special attention and acceleration so that it can stay on track.
In his view, the progress of the indicator is caused by the slow acceleration of development. The direction has been exact but slow, especially regarding education.
"Then, as the nation's future youth, you do not only become island inhabitants, but become a caring and an actively participating society," he said.
The man known as Yanuar emphasizes that every delegate must have a scientific attitude to find data and evidence. He also encourages UMM to be the university of the SDGs center. One of the valuable things is to socialize the Sustainable Development Goals and to begin the changes to support the SDGs' improvement.
On the same occasion, the former Great Ambassador of Indonesia for Colombia, Dr. (HC) Priyo Iswanto, M.H., attended the conference to give a general overview of the Sustainable Development Goals. He believes that this step can lead to better development of a country.
Conveyed by Priyo, the Sustainable Development Goals have 17 goals with 169 targets and 222 indicators, which should be discussed at the conference. On the other hand, he also asserts that youth is expected to provide solutions and recommendations to solve global societal issues.

"This SDGs conference does not fully focus on discussion, but also implementation. We cannot only provide solutions without contributing to society. All of you must practically think, which can generate brilliant ideas so that it can align with the SDGs tagline, "No One Left Behind," Priyo ended. (imh/nel/wil)
