One of the competitions that caught the most attention was the costume contest held during the ceremony. With a theme of "Nusantara and Nationality," the independence ceremony became even more festive with participants wearing cultural, traditional, and professional costumes.
"Alhamdulillah, this year's Agustusan competition was warmly and enthusiastically received by participants from the entire UMM academic community. With the momentum of the RI Anniversary and these lively competitions, I hope the UMM family becomes more united, leading to a more positive work spirit," he said.
On the other hand, Fadjar Ramdhani Setyawan, SH., MH, the event coordinator, added that the activities were expected to bring positive value to the community, especially the "White Campus" residents. Furthermore, one of the participants and the winner of the costume competition in the traditional category from the UMM Faculty of Medicine expressed great enjoyment of this year’s Agustusan festivities. Affectionately known as Putri, she and her friends chose to wear traditional costumes from the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region.
She noted that in such a special moment, celebrated only once a year, Indonesians should embody the motto "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" (Unity in Diversity). One way to do this is through cultural, traditional, and professional costume competitions representing various regions of the archipelago.
"I hope costume celebrations like this continue in the future, so that we, as fellow Indonesians, can learn about the cultures, professions, and traditions that are spread across our homeland," she expressed. (Zaf/Din/Faq/Fajr)
