Preparing a Capable Generation, Arabic Language Education UMM Invites Arabic Translator Practitioners

Preparing students to face the challenges of the world of work, the Arabic Language Education Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) once again presented the founders of a professional translation company. They attended and gave practitioner lectures through the UMM Center of Excellence (CoE) flagship program. The agenda was held on August 20 and was attended by dozens of students participating in CoE.

One of the speakers was the Director of CMM Translation, Rika Agusmelda. She conveyed the entrepreneurial mindset to enter the world of work. According to her, entrepreneurs play an important role in supporting the country's economic stability, but unfortunately, in Indonesia there is still an entrepreneurial gap of around 3.47% of the total population of Indonesia. This number is certainly high when compared to developed countries.

“This shortage of entrepreneurs can lead to high unemployment. In addition, there is also slow economic growth and a lack of global competitiveness,” she explained.

Rika continued that, in order to overcome this issue, there needs to be an effort to form a generation that has entrepreneurial skills. In addition, an entrepreneurial mindset, knowledge and skills, capital, and careful planning are also very decisive. Therefore, youths should not make any mistake in making decisions.

Meanwhile, Addie Priwibowo was also present as a speaker who explained about preparation for the world of work in terms of information technology. According to him, as someone who will later enter the world of work or have his own company, it should be able to use and utilize information technology to facilitate the work process.

“Technology will provide convenience and better speed. By utilizing technology, a lot of work can be done more easily. Thus, the use of technology in business is a vital necessity. Some of the main applications that must be mastered include Microsof Office, Google Workspace, Cloud, PDF, Artifical Intelligence (AI), data compress (WinZip, WinRar), and video editing,” he concluded.
