The interest in social media studies and mass media generally encouraged Nurudin to create many books. The latest book on Social Media: New Religion the Millennial Society presented interesting and complete reviewed about the emergence of this new media. One interesting development to be studied from social media according to him was the increasingly widespread the hoaxes.
Social media had grown and greatly determined the attitude and behaviour of millennial society. In fact, explained Nurudin, he developed or deliberately developed as a religion. Therefore, people tended to read about social media, like the teachings of the religion. "Even though some social media messages need to be believed as a legalized lie," said the lecturer of the Communication Science Department at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Tuesday (1/16).
Of course, continued Nurudin, the chaotic impact of social media messages was not only everywhere, but also the atmosphere of mutual hatred, insults, and blasphemy among others. "Seeing its development, real social media has threatened the national disintegration. Social media has created communication in the community to walk insincerely, "said the man with the moustache who published dozens of these books.
Social Media Book: The New Religion of the Millennial Society explored why it happened, how it impacted and what must be done so social media was not made a scapegoat for all causes. Books are written based on research and writings in mass media record tidal traces of social media users and their impact on society and solutions that must be done.
The spread of hoaxes can be done by anyone. It was undeniable that the community was being drunk and facilitated by technology. They mostly spread the news, not based on their mistakes but according to his tendency. "Our brains are often losing quickly from our thumbs. Especially in the midst of the current political situation, it cannot be denied that hoaxes are very political, "he said.
Social media was a great place for the spread of hoaxes. While in mainstream media, a hoax can be suppressed because it was limited from the media system that prosecuted to be professional. "They have employees, have readers, have an audience, so if you spread hoaxes, you have to be careful. If not, law officials will be reminded. "The hardest consequence is that the media will disband," he explained.
While the hoaxes, usually were spread by individual actors. If it was indicated that the account managed by him was proven to have carried out hoaxes, it was easy, which was then done was deleting his account. "The problem is wherever and whenever it seems to me that the media has more authority over the rulers. We do not have to criticize the phenomenon now, indeed it has always been like that, "he said.
The task of educating the public about media literacy, said Nurudin, was not just the duty of academics like him. "For myself, in every lecture, my association and discussion always emphasize media literacy. Media literacy is that we are aware that the media always has a negative impact. When you are aware, people tend to be careful. This is what we call the practice of media literacy, "he said.
His great attention to the media literacy movement finally led Nurudin to be rewarded by the head of the best Department from Kopertis East Java while serving as Head of the Communication Science Department several years ago. "We have done an activity of media literacy several times in high school which we think is an easy target for Hoaxes. Even though it was realized, counteracting the spread of hoaxes was very difficult, "he said. (Win)
