The International Achievement achieved by University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) had opened the way for Songhyun Kim to become a new student in this campus. Students from Busan, South Korea is familiar with UMM through the achievement of Student Choir Gita Surya UMM which won the Choral Busan Festival and Competition four years ago in South Korea.
"Yeah, I never knew that UMM choir group ever won the competition in Busan. This is great in winning the competition though it is very difficult," said Kim while brandishing his thumb.
In addition to the achievement, Kim claimed also get a recommendation from his senior in Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS) South Korea. At that time, his senior in BUFS never get a scholarship Darmasiswa RI in one campus in Malang.
"I was recommended by my senior to study at UMM. He used to study in Malang, but not at UMM. But I was suggested to study at UMM. He said UMM is good," said the student who previously took the Indonesia-Malaysia course in BUFS.
When the first time coming to this campus, Kim admitted that he liked UMM immediately, because of the friendliness of its people and the coolness of the air. "A lot of good people here. I have not gone around all campuses, but I love the lake. Cool. Nicecampus," Kim impression.
Interestingly, Kim determined not to speak English or Korean language yet Indonesia. He will try to speak Indonesian. "Yes, I have to speak Indonesian," he said with a grin. (ard)
