Student Day, The Arena for Potential Students

“EXPLORE your self potentials in this Student Day,”. That was what being said by the Vice Rector II of University of Muhammadiyah malang (UMM) Drs. Fauzan, M.Pd. in the opening of Student Day on Saturday (10/10). The annual event held on UMM helipad attracted 6.866 freshmen’s enthusiasm. This year the event themed “Menggali Potensi Mencetak Prestasi Membangun Negeri”.

“The benefit of participating this event is really good for all of you. We can see our colleagues from PSM (Students Choir) Gitasurya as perfect example. They just come from Italy presenting us three gold medals and a silver medal of choral competition,’ he said.

He expected that the event can boost the students’ motivation in competing and alaso can establish the mentality of champion. “Explore your talent and interest. Those will be good for your future,” he suggested.

The opening of this 2015 Student Day was signed with the helthy-walk agenda, officially begun by the vice Rector II Dr. Diah Karmiyati, Psi. A lot of  Students Activity Unit (UKM) also promoted themselves in UKM Fair on UMM helipad in the same day. “We hope that the potential of achovement in students of UMM can be valuable contributions for the development of the country,” said Diah.

This event lasts from October 10 until December 12 2015. Studet Day is an annual agenda of UMM that is held since 1992. As the peak of the event, Rector Cup as an agenda covering the arts and sports competition betwen faculties is held.

The purpose of this event is to provide the students chance to adjust themselves with both academic and non-academic activities in this white campus.  “This is an agenda where students can prove themselves,” said Diah.

 

Meanwhile, several foreign students also participated the helthy-walk event. They took seven kilometres surrounding Campus II UMM and villages around. “We intentionally passed through the villages in order to introduce students with their surroundings. Besides, the society also can get closer with us,” said the chief commitee, Sobron Jamil. (zul/han/t_far)
