A total of 7,609 new students from all faculties and 17 foreign students at University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) participated in the opening of Student Day started with Jalan Sehat on Saturday (7/10).
UMM Rector, Fauzan, explained that, Student Day aims to develop the potential of the students. Students are expected to be the originator of ideas as well as problem solver through creative works that can proud the name of nation.
"As a new student and new spirit, they have an obligation to contribute in creative thinking to solve problems around us" said Fauzan at the Opening of Student Day, Saturday (7/10) at Helipad UMM.
Head of Student Day Student Day, Hudainah SPsi Msi, said that, this year, Student Day focuses on increasing student participation in Student Creativity Program (PKM) and Bussiness Plan Creation with the theme of "Optimizing Role and Student Creativity in Building Nation" Hudainah said.
She hoped, there is an increase to student achievement by recognizing the interest of new students from an early age in order to be a place of achievement creation for students and UMM.
"The two national arena, namely PKM and Bussiness Plan, is very prestigious for universities, so UMM has always provided students with knowledge about these ones," she said.
On this occasion, UMM student affairs also invited all UKM to promote in the form of UKM Fair in UMM Hellipad.
"UKM Fair is a good opportunity for KOPMA UMM in inviting new students to do business and open business independently," said Santi Sugiarti, General Chairman of UMM Student Cooperative (KOPMA). (ard)
