Taking Doctoral Degree in Belgium, UMM Alumnus wants to be active in Muhammadiyah of Germany

Lufi Kartika Sari continuously succeeds by taking Doctoral degree in Brussel, Belgium. She was an alumnus of University of Muhammadiyah Malang in 2003.
In 2010, Lufi got Erasmus Mundus scholarship (the cooperation between UMM and the UE Commission). She and Roy Irawan (a Law Faculty student) joined exchange student program in Trento, Italy.
At the opening of Europalia event in Brussel, Belgium on Tuesday (10/10/2017), Lufi said “Thank God, I could continue my study because of the cooperation between UMM and Erasmus”.
She was so impressed by the event because there were Indonesian cultural performances held in Europe for four months. This event also held many amazing works and cultures of Indonesia. This was a very good opportunity for European citizens to get to know more about Indonesia.
Lufi said” I am very happy because I meet many Indonesian people here, lecturers, and also my Rector who becomes the Minister of Education and Culture now”.
Lufi is taking doctoral degree in Vrije Universiteit Brussel majoring in Science Education. Now, she is in third year. She said, “My research dissertation is about teacher professionalism especially in disadvantaged areas. My sources are mostly taken from UMM, and I hope that I can access data from ministry of education and culture”.
Lufi, the girl who is from Probolinggo and was ax-member of Muhammadiyah Student Association (UMM), said that she is proud to be part of UMM. She has many achievements because she studied at UMM. She already travelled to many countries because of Erasmus Mundus.
She said,“I do want to introduce UMM to the world. I’m ready to give a help if UMM wants to make a cooperation with my campus here”.
Once in awhile, Lufi communicates with her friends in Malang. One of her friends is Subhan Setowara who is her favorite lecture. Until now, Lufi is still a part of the community found by Subhan who is also a staff of Public Relation of UMM.
Lufi likes to join productive communities. She said,“I am active in PCIM (Head of Branch of Special Region of Muhammadiyah) Of Germany and PPI (Indonesian Student Union of Belgium)”.
She can speak English, Dutch, Italian, and Belgium. Muhadjir Effendy, ex-rector of UMM who now becomes the minister of education and culture expressed his impreesion when he met Lufi in Brussel. He said proudly, “Wherever I go, whether in Indonesia or abroad, I always meet UMM alumni”. (lus)
