Announcement of Achievements in UMM 78th Graduation Day

A LOT OF achievements were announced in the 78th Graduation Ceremony of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) in UMM Dome, Saturday (28/11). The commitee decided to add the handover of the trophy from students to the rector into the procession. It is always been the tradition of UMM announcing the achievements gained by students.

  The Vice Rector III, Dr. Diah Karmiyati, S.Psi said that in this period of graduation, many achievements were gained by the students. They have to be honoured in front of the graduates and guests.  

On Sunday (12/11), UMM team won the Indonesian Building Contest (KGBI) held in the Maranatha Christian University Bandung. They outscored the Institute of Technology Sepuluh November Surabaya (ITS) and the Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB). The miniature of building designed by UMM Faculty of Engineering was considered as the best design. “We created a flexible, moving, but shock-resistent miniature of building.” Said the Dean of UMM Faculty of Engineering, Ir. Sudarman, M.T.

Another achievement was gained by the UMM team of Indonesian Bridge Competition (KJI). They won the category of The Fastest Finishing in building an arch bridge.

Moreover, in the field of designing the program of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), UMM team from the Communication Science Study Program was awarded Silver Primasta as the Runner-Up in Ajisaka Public Relations Contest held by University of Gadjahmada Yogyakarta. The Study Program also crowned as the Indonesia Best School of Communication and Management according to Mix Magazine Indonesia.

Diah also added that in the sport field, the Student Activity Unit (UKM) Indonesia Karate-Do (Inkado) UMM also won 1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medal and 5 Bronze Medals in Malang Open Karate Championship held by FORKI Malang on Saturday (21/11).

 

Furthermore,  in last October, the team of Student Choir (PSM) Gitsurya UMM won the Gold Medal in Mixed Category and Silver Medal in Folklore Category of the 9th Rimini International Choral Competition. In the next competition, the 1st Puccini International Choir Festival, they won the Gold Medals in both categories of Mixed and Folklore. “I hope that there will be more achievements gained by the students,” Diah expected.  (zul/nas/t_far)
