| Tapak Suci UMM Team is receiving 1st Winner Cup of Asia-Europe National Pakubumi Open IV |
Student Activity Unit (UKM) Tapak Suci University of Muhammadiyah Malang 9UMM) won as the first winner of Asia-Europe National Pencak Silat Paku Bumi Open IV. The competition was held in Tri Lomba Juang Gymnasium of Bandung. Tapak Suci UMM won 14 medals by sending one contingent of 14 fighters in adult category. The Chairman of Tapak Suci Organization and Welfare, Wahid, mentioned that this achievement is gained by exercises that focus on physical and technique. Wahid said, “The techniques such as attacking, defending, timing, and power are very important”.
Furthermore, Wahid explained that the Team routinely exercised before the competition, which was six days in a week. Their persistence and hard work brought them to be success. They came back to Malang happily by bringing 10 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals.
Nauval Hilmy as the Chief of Tapak Suci Achievement Development stated that by joining competition outside the campus makes Tapak Suci UMM fighters more excited and more solid. Nauval said, “We are optimistic to win the competition”.
Contingent UMM attracted the judges’ attentions in their first national competition. Although the fighters of Tapak Suci UMM is not as many as other teams, but they win gold medals as many as other times get. Nauval who is the student of Islamic Economics Study Program said,”That is why we become the first winner”. (lus)
