For the umpteenth time, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Mechatronic Team compete in an International Sell Eco-Marathon Asia (SEM Asia) contest 2019 which will be held in Malaysia next April. From the Sepang International Circuit Kuala Lumpur, this this prestigious event will be attended by 28 car from 22 Indonesian universities.
In this event, UMM Mechatronic that compete in Urban Electronic vehicle category is relying on BLDC Motor 400 Watt machine with a carbon fiber shell and aluminum chassis. While the tire rim size is 17 inch and a basic 1250 millimeter wheel. The total weight of the car is 80 kilogram.
Before taking part in this event, UMM through Genetro Suryo U.E.V 6 successfully won the 1st place in an Energy Saving Car Competition (KMHE) 2018 in an Urban Electricity category. “Our result is at 335, 09 KM/KWH which break the Asian and World record,” as explained by the Mechatronic advisor, Drs. Mohammad Jufri, ST., MT.

This previous achievement, Jufri continued, really needsto be developed and continued to be the champion in every championship category and level. Introspecting from the conceptual and assemble struggle of the Mechatronic Team, Jufri is very optimistic with his assisted students to achieve something brilliant.
Besides attended by Indonesian universities, this competition isalso attended by 100 teams from the entire region of Asia and the Middle East. In this 10th Asian event, SEM Asia will be the biggest place to expose themselves as the best vehicle assembler in farthest and the most energy saving.

Away with 8 people complete with the drive train, Drs. Fauzan, M.Pd, UMM Rector emphasize this team to keep optimistic. “Dare to leave, Dare to win,” he said. Fauzan also remindsthem to ask their parents prayer. “It looks very trivial, but it was the true power,” he said.
When asked about the sustainability of the energy-efficient car, Fauzan explainedthat UMM hasa scheme in the academic product degree program. “That’s where the academic products from the lecturers and students will be offered to the companies and industries. Academic product degree will be held on next April,” he concluded. (joh)
