Since 2017 the number of violence against children has touched more than 50 cases. Be it kidnapping, sexuality, to trafficking. Even though they are under the supervision of parents and educators, violence against children is still common. Seeing this phenomenon, a team of students from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) took the initiative to create a tracking device named Track Child. The tool is expected to be a solution in child supervision.
Dicky Marcellio Akbar, as the group leader, explained that this tracking device is rectangular and is attached to the child's belt. What will connect the device to the Track Child application so that parents can find out the location of the child. On the tool, there are also two buttons, namely green and yellow. The green button will signal that the child is home and safe, while the yellow button will signal that they are in trouble.
"If the child has not given a signal or even the tracker has been released, the device will give an automatic danger signal to the Track Child application," he explained.
This Electrical Engineering student added that this tracking device has a magnet that will help attach it to the child's belt. This navigation tool also has a GPS feature that can provide a more accurate location of the device. There is also a security system that prevents other people from accessing related tools and applications. "We have also implanted a battery with a capacity of 2,000 mAh that who can recharge," he added.
The idea from a team consisting of Dicky Marcellino Akbar, Revaldo Yuanda, Kholil Maharno, Rega Suharsyah Khomeini, and Atika Nur Azzahra successfully passed the funding stage of the Student Creativity Program-Karsa Cipta (PKM-KC). They have also finished designing and will soon realize this technology. "All the plans have been completed and made. We will immediately conduct a trial with the actual situation," he continued.
Finally, Dicky hopes that the government can support this tracking device and Track Child application. If this is not possible, he and his team will continue to develop and market it to the broader community. "The purpose of PKM is to reduce and prevent violence against children. In addition, we think that parental supervision is safer when using these tools and applications," he concluded. (haq/wil)
