The alumna of the Nursing Science of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Indah Furnama, made proud achievements. She has been successfully awarded as the Deputy 1 Daughter of Balikpapan City Tourism Ambassador by the middle of March 2023. Though she is busy serving as a nurse in a hospital in Balikpapan, it does not limit her from making achievements and contributing to society.

She admits that being a Tourism Ambassador with its activities is challenging. Indah even had to utilize the time effectively and efficiently during the selection process. She went at 7 am and returned at 5 pm, then Indah headed to the pre-quarantine place of the Balikpapan Tourism Ambassador. She even had to reduce her sleeping time becoming 3-4 hours.

Indah does have a dream to be an ambassador since senior high school. Unfortunately, she could not make it at that time. When studying in Malang, she feels grateful to UMM for facilitating her participation in the programs of Campus Ambassador and Boys and Girls Club (Translated: Putra-Putri Kampus). Starting from her experience in successfully occupying the top 10 boys and girls of the UMM made her keep trying and learning from many seniors until she can reach this point.

With the predicate as an ambassador, Indah perceives many benefits. For example, her voice can be heard by the government. She even promotes a wellness tourism program entitled ‘Sehat itu Indah (Translated: Healthy is Beautiful).’ The program aims to encourage people to pay attention to their health in the middle of their busy.

“Slow but certain, this program runs well and is accepted by society. The people may only memorize the Tai Chi steps. My team and I currently are creating Mantrawastra project, an activator program which aims to facilitate the Chief of Section of Borneo,” she concludes. (imh/*/ri/wil)
