The fashion trends in the current era continue to evolve, with many innovations and creations emerging. This includes fashion brands campaigning for the importance of mental health. This is precisely what students from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) are doing through their fashion business called Manasika Svasthya. This brand aims to raise awareness among the Indonesian public about the importance of mental health through its products.

The team consists of Elissa Anugrah Fatah, Tiara Anjelia Ayu Kartini, Muhammad Farrel Yusuf, and Elliyana from the Management program, as well as Uni Fitratunnisa from Accounting. According to Elissa, fashion was chosen as a means to campaign for mental health because it is widely popular among the public. This way, the message conveyed can be more easily received.

In creating these products, there are two versions: one for fashion shows and another for commercial use by the general public. The first version is exclusively designed for fashion shows and intended for fashion stylists, ambassadors, and Puteri Indonesia contestants due to its highly artistic designs. Meanwhile, the second version is aimed at being commercial products for the general public. Some of these products include the Oshna Blouse, Jivala Outer, and skirts.

Their team also provides a WhatsApp group as a platform for consumers to share their problems and feelings. Additionally, they organize workshops for consumers, particularly focusing on mental health management.

"We have also collaborated with PKK women in running this program. Not only in workshops but also in product manufacturing. We use natural fiber materials of excellent quality, which are more sweat-absorbent and soft to the touch," she said.

The names of the clothing items they create are imbued with psychological messages and meaning, aligning with the brand name Manasika Svasthya, which is derived from Sanskrit and translates to mental well-being or harmony. They integrate the philosophy of mental health into their products by drawing inspiration from psychological narratives to craft designs and convey positive messages.

Interestingly, over the course of three months, they successfully generated a profit of IDR 20,486,616. Beyond focusing on results, they also support their customers by providing a platform for sharing their thoughts and addressing their problems. Elissa and her team hope that this fashion product can spread the message of the importance of mental health to the public. “We want our customers to feel embraced when they’re facing difficulties. To know they’re not alone because there’s always someone willing to help,” she concluded. (wil/ind)
