Student Day 2015 has finally been over. The closing ceremony held at UMM Dome on Saturday (12/12) was attended by 6844 freshmen. The Head of PP Muhammadyah, Drs. Ahmad Dahlan Rais, directly lead the closing of the event which had been starting from the last October.
Dahlan, in his speech, said that the freshmen made the right choice to enroll to UMM. “You chose the right place to study. UMM is one of the best universities in Indonesia,” he asserted.
Dahlan said that the students should feel grateful because UMM provides many facilities in exploring their selves. “UMM also have to remember that there are skies above the sky. Keep on improving,” he asserted.
He also said that whether good or not a university is not determined by its accreditation, but moral. “Having good accreditation is useless if the students cheat in the exam. Having both good accreditation and students’ morality is better. The latter reflects an excellent university,” he said.
According to Dahlan, it is now difficult to find an honest person. There are many cases involved the Governments due lack of honesty. “The Papa Wants Shares case and the other corruption cases can be the result of cheating and doing dishonest behavior while still being students,” he said.
That is why, Dahlan advised the UMM students to be honest. “Thirty years from now, exactly a decade of the Independence of Indonesia, all of you are the ones who run this country. InsyaAllah, Indonesia will gain its success if Indonesian people are all honest and trustworthy,” he wished.
The UMM Rector, Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.AP, also advised the students to fill their days with hard works and struggles in their study. “Be struggle in studying so you can make your dreams come true,” he said.
In this Student Day closing event, there are some awards given such as the Best Student’s Activity Unit (UKM) award, the Best Student’s Organization Management and Spatial Planning, and the Best Student Day. The list of the winner is on the infographic below. (zul/han/t_rfd)|
