The ceremonial tee-off by Vice Rector II of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Prof. Dr. Nazaruddin Malik, M.Si., officially marked the UMM Alumni Family Golf Tournament opening on November 4th. The event was also attended by the Chairman of IKA UMM and Pasuruan Regent, Dr. M. Irsyad Yusuf, S.E., MMA, who inaugurated the competition.
More than 70 golfers were participating, competing in various championship categories. The event coincided with the UMM Golf Club's anniversary and aligned with Youth Pledge Day. This spirit of togetherness was evident throughout the competition, as participants completed the 18 holes on the course.
Participants didn't just come from UMM alumni; there were skilled golfers from various companies as well. For example, golfers from WIKA, BSI, BNI, Mandiri, Semen Gresik, Bank Jatim, and others joined the general category. Additionally, there were categories for young golfers from schools or universities, including the student and skills categories.

Nazaruddin mentioned that the competition originated with the establishing of the UMM Golf Club in 2019. The club has become a pioneer in golf activities among students. He emphasized that golf tournaments provide an opportunity for colleagues to strengthen their bonds.
He congratulated Gus Irsyad on his re-election as the Chairman of IKA UMM for the 2024–2028 period, coinciding with the golf competition. He expressed hope that alumni could collaborate to find solutions for nation-building.
Meanwhile, Gus Irsyad explained that IKA UMM always supports every innovation undertaken by the university, including the organization of golf competitions initiated by the student golf club.
“Undoubtedly, this event is prestigious and competitive. Perhaps in the coming years, we can introduce a junior category to nurture and tap into the potential of young golfers," he added.

One of the golf participants, Djadjok Natsir, praised the well-organized tournament by UMM. He found the competition highly competitive. "I have to admit my game wasn't great today, especially since it's my first time playing here. I usually play more often in Jakarta," he explained.
He noted that one relatively easier part was the par three. "Hopefully, this competition continues to improve and strengthen the camaraderie," said Djadjok, who has scored a hole-in-one in the past.(Wil/Fajr)
