Generations Y and Z are facing challenging problems these days. This is mainly related to how the community develops in such a way as to improve the quality of their lives. One topic that appears to improve the quality of their lives is the concept of Socio-ecopreneurship. Thus, socio-ecopreneur comeupas a promising opportunity.
"Socio-ecopreneur is a new generation of entrepreneurs, which highlights their role as agents of social change," said Vice Rector I of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin MSi when explaining the background of the organization of the Nationwide University Network in Indonesia (NUNI) 2019, 2-4 October 2019 through the big theme of preparing millennial to be socio-ecopreneurship.
"One of the actions that can be taken is to familiarize and involve the younger generation with the idea of socio-ecopreneurship which is expected to produce individuals who have motivation and self-drive with social awareness and high social commitment," said Syamsul. This agenda will be filled with Student Camp, Presidential Forum, NUNI Meeting, and Networking Dinner.

"Social awareness and high social commitment, continued Syamsul, that equipped with a strong drive to meet social needs or fix social problems by applying the principles of science and sensitivity, empathy, idea making, making prototypes and willingness to help others is the strength of this process," said Syamsul, Tuesday (1/10) afternoon.
The Student Camp material itself contains design thinking for problem solving of problems faced by Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) on an entrepreneurial basis. The 2019 NUNI Student Camp participants were students from 21 universities with a total of 63 participants. Student Camp will be held in the UMM target area, namely Kampung Hijau "Tempenosaurus", Beji Village, Batu City.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Forum material contains policies in the scope of higher education for the development of tertiary institutions. Presidential Forum participants are all university chancellors who are members of NUNI. While the NUNI Rector Meeting participants are the Chancellors / Directors / Equal NUNI members. The NUNI Staff Meeting participants were also staff of each NUNI universities member.

The chosen of UMM as the host of the 2019 NUNI was inseparable from the efforts of UMM which always devoted themselves to the community. Mainly through the concept of eco-tourism or the utilization of regional potential with the aim of prospering the community. The "Tempenosaurus" Kampung Hijau which was used as the venue for the Student Camp 2019 as a pilot project conducted by UMM.
Long before the “Tempenosaurus” Kampung Hijau, UMM had also previously provided assistance in one of the slums in Malang City, namely in Jodipan, Blimbing District through the branding of Jodipan Colorful Village (KWJ). The assistance that departed from the Communication Science student practicum had succeeded in raising the community standard of livinguntil its success was known by foreign countries. (joh)
