Evaluating the success of UMM facilitation in some areas of East Java, on Thursday (20/7) the Regent of Sitobondo through the Head of Agriculture Office specifically requested experts from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry (FPP) of UMM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Indah Prihartini, M.P. to develop organic farming clusters.
Previously, Professor of FPP UMM since 2012 until 2017 had accompanied Bondowoso Regency to develop the same thing. Even through Cold hands Beautiful, Bondowoso Regency is currently taking care of international certification so that production can be exported. This is also what we want to do in Sitibondo Regency through the cooperation.
"The Memorandum of Understanding that will be run between UMM and Sitobondo Regency will not only be limited to organic farming, but also be planned to expand to other cooperation. For other cooperation will be discussed technically in the next periods," said the lecturer who got Kopertis Region VII 2011.
Informally, added Indah, it had been intensely communicating with the Regent of Sitobondo related to the cooperation plan. After seeing the potential in Sitobondo Regency, Indah finally agreed to make cooperation that would be followed up sooner. It was targeted that next August the cooperation would be realized.
"In principle, I see the potential first, from the potential then I develop organic farming according to its potential. So, the clusters that formed have area characteristics, characterize its potential. So there is no cost burden beyond its potential. It means that what we produce is internal awareness of input," she said.
Wealth of Sitobondo from the mountain to the sea is beautiful. Described Indah, there are actually farmer groups that develop organic rice farming. However, the Regent of Sitobondo expects his potential to be optimized with UMM involvement in it.
Besides witnessed by UMM Rector, Fuzan, the meeting was also attended by second Assistant of Agricultural Economy Sector, Head of Agriculture Office, Head of Food Crops, Head of Government, Head of Legal Division, also from Regional Personnel Division, and Secretarial Sitobondo Regency. (ard)
