The success of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) in improving academic quality not only proved by achievement of accreditation institution, but also at departments level (Prodi). Currently, as many as 25 departments at UMM had been achieved A accreditation by the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT).
It was conveyed by UMM Rector Fauzan during an opening of guest lecture on "Accreditation Policy of Department and Institution" on Wednesday (27/9) at UMM Senate Meeting Room. For Fauzan, accreditation was a fundamental obligation for an university in gaining national standard qualification.
"UMM always to improve quality of all departments at UMM. We hope that Muhammadiyah Higher Education (PTM) in East Java can also improve its quality and accreditation," F auzan added.
In addition to university official and departments within UMM, this activity was also followed by other campus representatives, especially PTM, namely University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo, University of Muhammadiyah Gresik, Univerisity of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo and other Muhammadiyah high schools.
Accreditation Executive Agency BAN-PT Prof Dr Ir SM Widyastuti MSc on this occasion delivered that PTM also has a big role to improve quality of universities in Indonesia. "Moreover, there are approximately 134 universities throughout Indonesia," he explained.
Widyastuti also said that nowadays submission and extension of department accreditation could utilize an online program that provided by BAN-PT. Online Higher Education Accreditation (SAPTO) system aimed to accelerate in completing an administration of submission and extension of department. (Naz)
