UMM Held New Student Test for Second Time

Thousands of new student candidates came to University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) in campus III to take written test and interview for second regular registration on Monday (17/7). Total of 7.393 of new student candidates from online registrants of 11.833 took the test. Overall, the total online registrants from first and second test are 24.860 new student candidates.

They came from various regions in Indonesia. Perhaps, the total registrants of the third time test will be more than 30 thousands.

Vice Rector I UMM Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin MSi explained that there are only 7000 to 7500 students who will be accepted in UMM. For the second regular registration and others, the total acceptance will be adjusted with the passing grade of each study program (prodi) in every faculty. Syamsul makes sure that medical faculty will not open the registration.

He said, “The students who are accepted will be adjusted with the human resources and infrastructure of UMM such as completing the interior in GKB IV. GKB IV will be used for master students”. This building will be ready to use as a teaching and learning process on September.

The test was taken place in some buildings in Campus III of UMM such as Hall Dome for Faculty of Political Science, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, GKB I for Medical Faculty and Health Faculty, Basement Dome for Faculty of Psychology, first to fourth floor of GKB II for Faculty of Economy and Business , fifth to sixth floor of GKB II for Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Auditorium of BAU for Islamic Faculty, third and fourth floor of Mosque of UMM for  Faculty of Law, fourth to ninth floor of GKB IV for Engineering Faculty.

UMM also exerted additional security to anticipate cheating among the test takers. 25 police got ready to guard the test. Rector of UMM, Fauzan also took part in anticipating cheating by coming to some places where the test took place. He said that based on his observation, there was no indication for cheating.

Fauzan said, "We commit to the quality improvement. That starts from the selection test to the teaching and learning process. We apologize if a candidate does not qualify to be accepted. It is not about who or how many, but to be accepted, it is about the achievement. The achievement is represented by the result of the test”. (lus)
