UMM Presents an Australian Expert to Strengthen the Quality of English Teaching

A COMMITMENT of University of Muhammadiyah (UMM) in improving quality of human resources in teaching English was getting sharpened. This was pointed out by organized a Seminar on English Language Teaching that presented an expert from University of South Australia, Dr Ngoc Ba Doan (6/7).

Furthermore, through English Language Teaching and Learning in Mobile World: Challenges and Possibilitiesmaterials, this seminar also presented two other expert. They were Teachers Code-Switching in Indonesian Tertiary Bilingual Classroom by Hilda Cahyani, Ph.D., from Polytechnic of Malang (Polinema), and Effective EFL Teaching: A Note on Success and Failure Stories by Estu Widodo.

This seminar was a form of implementation of cooperation between UMM with UNISA. The event which took place in Senate Meeting Room of UMM was attended by some lecturers from Study Program of English Language Education and Language Center UMM.

While Assistant Rector of Foreign Cooperation, Drs. Suparto, M.Pd. explained, this seminar continued UMM tradition cooperation that already existed before. Suparto also encouraged the participants to take advantage of the vast opportunities of cooperation undertaken by UMM.

"We also open a proposed cooperation, especially with UNISA. There are still plenty of opportunities to cooperate with Australia. Although Australia is geographically close to Indonesia, we are even more cooperative with Europe," he concluded. (ard)
