UMM University Makes Cooperation with a University in India

AFTER cooperated with 112 countries, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with one of famous universities in New Delhi, India, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The signing was witnessed by a number of students Arabic Language Education (PBA) study program of Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) in Engineering Hall University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on Tuesday (18/10).

Director of International Cooperation JNU, Prof. Dr. Girish representing NJU rector stated "I hope this cooperation will be able to produce positive results in the future to establish these two colleges,"

Rector of UMM, Fauzan hoped that superior products both product research and human resources created by UMM would be known internationally. "We hope that the student of Arabic Education will be able to work as a lecturer in Jawaharlal Nehru University. UMM has a major commitment to develop overseas cooperation "

Fauzan continued, in 2017, UMM had planned the students were obliged to take English for Spesific Purpose (ESP) program, also they were hoped to master 2 foreign languages which were Mandarin and Arabic.

Meanwhile, Head of the International Relations Office (IRO) UMM, Dr. Abdul Haris, M.A stated that this cooperation was the beginning assessment between the two campuses " the cooperation will include academic, research, and community services. We will follow up this cooperation by running some activities. Foe example, Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM) will send some people for training there. Besides, according to the agreement, lecrurer of Indonesian Language will follow short course for 4 months there”

After the signing of MoU, Assistant Professor, Centre of Arabic and African Studies School of Language, Literature and Cultural Studies (SSL & CS) Dr. MD. Qutbuddin presented a paper entitled "Contemporary Trend of Arabic Teaching in India" in a guest lecture of Arabic Language Education study program. In addition, Assistant professor M.Phil & PhD in International Relation NJU Dr. Gautam Kumar Jha was also being a speaker in National Seminar and Product Hold 2016 (SenasPro) which was held by UMM on October 17-18.
