The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) again inaugurated new professors on January 6th. This time, the two professors were from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FSPS) UMM. They are Prof. Dr. Wahyudi, M.Si. and Prof. Dr. Vina Salviana Darvina Soedarwo, M.Si., who have their research focus in their respective fields.

Prof. Dr Wahyudi, M.Si., studied the contribution of middle-class social institutions toward producing the prophetic consciousness of social movement actors for people's sovereignty. He studied the Samin people's struggle against the Dutch colonizers, the Kalibakar farmers' movement in South Malang, the FKAUB movement in Greater Malang, and the INTI association movement in Greater Malang.

According to him, our responsibility is to fulfil glory, nobleness, virtue, prosperity, social justice, and people's sovereignty in life. At the same time, it is also a shared responsibility. Therefore, there must be a synergy of dharma between all parties as children of the nation residing in Indonesia.

He also explained the results of a study on the contribution of the middle class in producing the prophetic consciousness of social movement actors. It can be explained that prophetic consciousness is built through a dialectical cycle between five components, namely the actor's self, social institutions, colonization or pressure from the system and macrostructure. The same goes for colonization or oppression felt by the people and divine guidance.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Vina Salviana Darvina Soedarwo, M.Si, discussed the integrative plus participatory political education model for the golden generation, a formula for women politicians to build the quality of Indonesian families. She explained that to prepare qualified female politicians, it is necessary to start with political education from the beginning as family members. Moreover, the family is where social value socialization is initially given.

"In the family, we learn to be honest, polite and respectful. We can also add knowledge and understanding of democracy and national insight to complement the knowledge received at school," he said in more detail.

According to her, raising awareness and the best attitude in building a quality family is important to prepare a golden generation. Both men and women can do it. It can be realized by providing space for women to be empowered economically, socially and politically. Thus, the hope of a high-quality family will contribute to the high Pride points the government targets.

"Women politicians will have sufficient awareness and ability to achieve high Proud targets towards a golden Indonesia. This is what I call the integrative plus participatory political education model," Vina concluded. (faq/wil/put)
