University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was committed to improving graduate competency. One of the efforts was through competency certification tests for each prospective graduate. UMM already had a Professional Certification Institution (LSP) Intermediary 1 (P1) standardized by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP).
In the 91st period I graduation ceremony of 2019 UMM, which was attended by the Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Ir. Siti Nurbaya Bakar, M.Sc., today Saturday (2/23), the Chairman of BNSP Kunjung Masehat gave competency certificates to students and assessors to UMM lecturers.
Aside from fulfilling the demands of the latest curriculum, professional certification was also a prerequisite for graduating graduates. "So that UMM graduates have recognition from BNSP for their competencies," explained Dr. Ihyaul Ulum, S.E., M.Sc., Ak., CA. as chairman of the UMM LSP when interviewed on Friday (2/22) afternoon.

There are at least 52 competency test schemes that have been verified by BNSP. "Even though we are a bit late to start, in one year we have become LSP P1 with the highest number of schemes in Indonesia. Plus there are 20 schemes that are undergoing a verification process by BNSP, "he added.
In the future, UMM Rector Dr. Fauzan, M, Pd., Targeted each study program to have at least 5 competency test schemes in accordance with their fields. "Thus there are many schemes that prospective graduates can choose according to their interests and competencies," he hoped.
"This competency test is a commitment of UMM to strengthen professional-oriented competence. Graduation is not just a formality but a quality orientation. So that our graduates have trust in the community. Then this competency certificate becomes mandatory, "said Fauzan. (Win)
