Roundnet is a new sport that will be present in Indonesia in 2020. This game is similar to volleyball. It has been in America since 1995. Roundnet revived when Spikeball Inc. started promoting it in 2008. Although initially only a recreational game, it has now become an accomplished sport that spawned many tournaments outside America.
Currently, Roundnet has spread to several cities in Indonesia. In East Java, the Roundnet Community was pioneered by the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). Abdurrohman Muzakki, S.Or., M.Pd., the UMM Roundnet Club coach told about, the beginning of the formation of the Roundnet community in Malang. This idea came from students who were curious and wanted to try a new sport that was loved by famous public figures and athletes.

"It turns out that not only we are interested, but many students and also other students are also interested in trying this new sport. That's why we formed the Malang Raya Roundnet community. However, because the pandemic situation made it impossible to practice with many people, we finally format another community called the UMM Roundnet Club, "said the UMM PGSD lecturer on Saturday (27/02).
Zaki explained that the formation of this community was fully supported by the UMM Student Affairs Bureau of Interest and Talent Division. Not in vain, at the implementation of the first national-level Roundnet tournament which was held in Bandung (20/02), UMM was awarded as the Pioneer campus for Roundnet in East Java.
"We have been invited by the founder of the Indonesian Roundnet, Genta Fajar, since December. However, due to the pandemic situation and the PSBB, we were only able to go to Bandung during the national tournament on February 20, "said Zaki.

Additionally, Zaki explained how to play Roundnet. This game is played by 4 people consisting of 2 people. Each team consists of two people. In this match, the two teams will face each other. The athlete throws a small ball at the other athletes on his team by bouncing around the net or small trampoline. All limbs can be the focus media for playing Roundnet so that the ball does not hit the ground.
“Roundnet is often called mini beach volleyball because of its similar nature. Some of the rules in the Roundnet are that each team may only touch the ball three times before bouncing it over the net. The winner of the set is counter with a score of 21 points like badminton, ”said the Kediri-born lecturer.
Zaki conveyed that the UMM Roundnet Club in the future will carry out social service activities and introduce the Roundnet movement to campuses and schools in East Java. He hopes that in the future, the East Java ring network can develop and be not inferior to other regions.
He concluded: "We also hope that with the development of the Indonesian Roundnet, the tournaments that are held can also be tiered according to the age of the players." (apg / syi / sil)
