Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) again maintained institutional accreditation A. It was based on the decree (SK) of the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT) numbered 3289/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/PT/IX/2017. Fauzan said that it was the result of a corporate culture built by UMM.
The culture has encouraged UMM academicians, both lecturers, employees, and students to work and become more active and productive. "What we do is not only for prestige but also strategic for the advancement of institutions, associations and nations," Fauzan said.
For Fauzan, the achievements of students, lecturers, and achievements are institutionally rooted in the energy to give, in line with UMM motto, 'From Muhammadiyah for Nation'. "Thank to God, many works of students and lecturers can be enjoyed and beneficial to the wider community," he said.
Meanwhile, Ainur Rofieq, UMM Head of Management and Controller (KPPA) said that the succes is because UMM has pattern of Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) that exceed the standard determined by Kemenristekdikti.
"All the SPMI quality standards are already operating well. Thus. It was created a culture of quality, both in terms of function and governance. No wonder, when the implementation of SPMI UMM audited, BAN-PT gave a score of 368 or A," said Rofieq.
Through AUN-QA, UMM has been an associate member since August 2016. This year has enrolled three study programs: Biology, Animal Husbandry and Management to be accreditated by AUN-QA. "Next year, we plan to enroll three other programs to gain recognition from AUN-QA," Rofieq said.
For the next five years, UMM expects to achieve international accreditation through various accreditation institutions such as ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) and Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
For ABET, he continued, this year UMM has attended workshops in United States as a prerequisite to get recognition. "As a preliminary accreditation, in 2017, we have selected three Prodi from the Faculty of Engineering to organize ABET accreditation," Rofieq said.
In addition, Rofieq continued, UMM has many programs in research, cooperation, lecturer-student exchange, scientific meetings, and other various international-scale programs that have improved its quality and number of operations. (ard)
