The Mathematics Education Study Program of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) closed the end of the year by holding the International Education Conference held on Saturday (23/12). This conference is aimed to generate the spirit of researchers who have concentrations in Mathematics.
Vice dean Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP UMM). Dr. Sudiran, M.Hum said that the participants are asked to know about how to explain that Mathematics is not a difficult thing to learn. It is just a science that is related to the counting and is expected that Mathematics is delivered as a science that connects students and the future.
Sudiran said, “We present many speakers from other countries. It is expected that this event that is held by Mathematics Study Program FKIP UMM can be a suggestion for Mathematics researchers to not only teach mathematics counting but also as a way to introduce the world’s development through mathematics”.
The theme of this event is “The Robbustness of Mathematics Education Invention” and is expected that it can be a stimulus for Mathematics researchers to strengthen and enrich the inventions.
This event was attended by approximately eighty participants from various universities in Indonesia and is aimed to be a suggestion for Mathematic researchers to be able publish their research results.
The first session was discussion session. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Salmi Md. who is a Vice Dean for Student Affairs and International Relations Faculty of Science and Technology of University Kebangsaan Malaysia, explained about important points in conveying mathematics in order to not cause misconceptions which become a problem in learning mathematics. Salmi said, “Mathematics is actually a proficiency in thinking, but it often becomes a much unloved thing because there are many misconceptions in conveying it’.
Furthermore, the event was also attended by the main speakers. They are Dr. Lilla Adulyasas from Yala Rajabhat University of Thailand, Dr. M. Syaifuddin, M.Si from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang Indonesia, Chanakya Wijeratne, PhD from the University of Colombo Sri Lanka, and Nhelbourne K. Mohammad, M.Ed from the University of Cotabato Philippines.(lus)
