UMM Are Preparing 21st Century Engineers

Vice Chairman III of Indonesian Engineers Association of East Java Region, Prof. Ir. Daniel M. Rasyid, was presenting material related to 21st Century Engineer in the guest lecture of Profession of Engineer Education Program UMM
 
THE CHALLENGES Engineers profession in Indonesia are increasingly complex entering the 21st century. The biggest challenge in this era is a service that is full of integrity. To answer it, the Study Program (Prodi) of Profession of Engineer Education (PSPPI) of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held its first guest lecture on Saturday (3/3) at GKB 4 UMM Meeting Room.
 
Presenting Vice Chairman III Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (PII) East Java Area, Prof. Ir. Daniel M. Rosyid, Ph.D. as a speaker, he described the Energy Considerations: Save, Clean and Renewable. Daniel mentioned, many factors that challenge engineers, especially in the 21st century, such as climate change and global warming.
 
"Energy is a very important consideration for engineers everywhere. We hear the term savety, but now let we add with energy savety. How wise we use the energy," said Daniel.
 
In addition, the Dean of Marine Technology Faculty of Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) said that the existence of the profession of engineers should be able to provide an ethical solution to the problems of Indonesia development in order to provide good benefits to the public.
 
"Beneficial means the bureaucratic way is clean and the apparatus have to be competent. I suggest that students of PSPPI UMM are more sensitive because they are more considering moral and spiritual," he said.
 
This guest lecture is the first lecture for PSPPI UMM students. Besides UMM PSPPI students, the lecturers of Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (FPP) of UMM also attended in which they would become a lecturer for PSPPI students.
 
The Chairman of Preparation Team of UMM Profession of Engineer Education Program, Annisa Kesy Garside ST., MT, assessed that the guest lecture is important because it has more knowledge for the engineers profession..
 
"These can give an idea of ​​the challenges and tasks they will do after getting the profession of engineers," Annisa concluded. (ard)
