Muhammadiyah University Rider (MuRid) and University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Adventure Club, White Campus, to open access roads for residents at Pujon Hill UMM, last Thursday (3/3). They also planted tree seeds to green the area, which was a grant from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) of the Republic of Indonesia for the White Campus.
UMM Pujon Hill Manager Tatag Muttaqin, S.Hut. M.Sc. explained that his party had carried out their obligations and developed several things since being trusted by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. From regulating regional boundaries, building infrastructure facilities, and creating and opening inspection routes.
Recently, his party has built several functional posts that can be used. In addition, it also carries out rehabilitation to protect the forest and give benefits to the surrounding residents. Not only direct but also indirect positive effects such as avoiding landslides. "So, today is indeed one of a series of rehabilitation activities and opening roads for the community so that they can access more easily and get more benefits," he added.
Tatag, his nickname, continued that recently they also received four programs from the government. One of the efforts to conserve natural resources. There is also the assistance of two retaining dam units that can be utilized. "In the future, we will also build a center of excellence for essential oils in this region, even with research and development activities carried out by students and lecturers. So far, the community is also happy with UMM's presence in caring for and managing this area," he added.
On the other hand, UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., revealed that Pujon Hill UMM was indeed designed as an applied laboratory for the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry. An agro complex that various departments can use will also be built in the area. Meanwhile, for the long term, Fauzan also said that UMM plans to construct an agrotechopark to provide more benefits for the residents of the Pujon Hill area.
"Of course, this plan is always oriented towards goodness for the White Campus academics and the surrounding community. That way, students and lecturers can innovate to develop this large area and move the local economy. Of course, there are still many things that need to be prepared, and it will take a long time to build this agrotechnopark," he concluded. (cdr/wil)
