In order to present works of art within the scope of the academic community as part of science, the extended family of Mrs. Hj Dedy S. Winoto donated more than 200 works of art as cultural objects from the deceased's work. Dedy S. Winoto wasone of the fine artists in Malang city forthe Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM).
"The deceased wanted art education to develop even further, even though he is no longer on our side. But here we bring only three main samples and we will bring the rest when the room is ready, for the sake of visual arts knowledge development," said Bambang Hardiyanto as the younger brother of Hj. Dedy S. Winoto.
The three samples were small Ganesha sculpture, an abstract sculpture made of coconut shells, and painting that visually looked like a child turned away. There were also Anthony Wibowo (one of Dedy student), Slamet Henkus (national painter), Dr. H. Fauzan, M.Pd (UMM Rector), Dedy S Winoto's extended family, and UMM Academic Community who attended the event.

"The heritage that given to UMM actually happened against all of us. Started when we visited her house, then there was a request from Mrs. Dedy. I think UMM can accept it. We immediately conveyed it to the Rector and he immediately agreed. Of course, this is a touch of warning for UMM so that in the future UMM will have a good relationship with art and culture," said Dr. Wahyudi, M.Si as the moderator who is also a lecturer of Sociology at UMM.
In the future, UMM Central Library 1st floor will be provided with a room of good items collection of the deceased heritage. Dedy S Winoto and other art and culture works, together with the Cultural Institute (LK) of UMM, will make monthly routine studies related to the arts and culture of the archipelago.
"Of course this is a gift that has a satirical value so that UMM always increases or reflects cultural values. Of course this is also the responsibility and belief of all of what has been submitted, it has educational meaning mainly for UMM academic community and generally for those who are visiting UMM," concluded Dr. H. Fauzan, M.Pd as the UMM Rector. (joh)
