University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) is getting ready to be the host of National Jamboree held by Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC). This event will be held for four days starting on 1-4 December 2017 and will be attended by 2000 volunteers who are the representatives of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah members.
This event will be attended by the Minister of Human Development and Indonesian culture, Puan Maharani and the Chairman of People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Zulkifli Hasan. The theme of the event is “Tighten up Togetherness, Increase Reliability”. This event is expected to be a great experience for all members of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah from Sabang to Merauke in handling disaster. Moreover, every region needs learn how to be ready to handle disaster quickly.
Vice Chairman of the Committee of Activities, Zakarija Achmat, explained that this event is as a means of capacity building and credibility of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah volunteer team who are members of other Muhammadiyah volunteer teams.
Zakaria said, "This activity was originally as a means of friendship among members of MDMC and it should also be able to increase the capacity and credibility of members,".
The rundown of this event are disaster-related seminar, disaster management competitions and disaster management simulations. (lus)
