UMM-FURB Brazil Signs Cooperation to Accelerate Education Acceleration

Cooperation for collaboration continues to be built by the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). The White Campus began to collaborate with the Universidade Regional de Blumenau (FURB) Brazil. The Indonesian Ambassador attended the online schedule to Brazil H.E Edi Yusup. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was held last Thursday (3/12).

Edi expressed his appreciation for the cooperation built by the two universities. According to him, this agenda is a strategic initiative in the education sector. One of them is to bridge good relations between Indonesia and Brazil.

He also encouraged the two institutions to continue exploring various ways, starting from the procurement of research, joint research, health, agriculture to the digital economy. Edi also encouraged the two of them to develop research in renewable energy.

"This is the first step of a long journey of collaboration between UMM and FURB. Hopefully, it can provide good for both of them," he added.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., said that this collaboration aimed to encourage the acceleration of the progress of their respective universities. Especially at the international level. Moreover, seeing the potential of the two universities that both can develop well.

"This MoU and MoA are not just a merely ceremonial and formal event. But the vital essence that who must understand is the implications and subsequent applications. How can both parties help each other to advance and achieve their respective targets, "he explained.

Fauzan also said that UMM had built cooperation with various institutions from 24 countries. The FURB is an extended collaboration program between UMM White Campus in Latin America. "Hopefully, there will be many benefits from the collaboration between UMM and FURB," he said.

On the same occasion, FURB Chancellor Marcia Cristina Sarda Espindola was pleased with the partnership that he had initiated. According to him, there are already many targets waiting to be completed. Meanwhile, UMM is the first partnership that they have built with Indonesia.

Marcia said that this collaboration could provide various benefits. Not only for the two universities but also for Indonesia and Brazil. So, there needs to be a solid commitment to offering the opportunity to exchange ideas and insights to understand each other better.

"We also want this collaboration with UMM to be the first step to be able to collaborate with others," she concluded. (apg/wil)
