Dozens of junior high school (JHS) students in Bungah sub-district, Gresik, looked cheerful and active participating in three coaching clinic classes. The activity was organized by the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) in collaboration with SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Bungah Gresik. There were three classes presented on October 6, such as a class on being a little journalist, compost technology processing, and fun accountistic.
Ir. Ali Mahmud, M.Pt., a lecturer in animal husbandry at UMM, taught an interesting class on composting technology. He invited the children to utilize goat manure and make it into a useful product. They were initially reluctant to hold the dirt, but instead they were excited and curious about the process.

The process of making the fertilizer is by spreading the goat manure as thick as 20-30 cm. Then spread the dolomite, ash and decomposer. Next, water it with biofarm that has been mixed with water and cover the pile with a tarp. After letting it sit for one week, it can be stirred. Finally, wait for three weeks and the fertilizer can be used.
"The children were disgusted at first and didn't want to touch the manure. But they were quite curious and finally wanted to try. Hopefully this class can inspire them and maybe they can try it with friends or family at home," said Ali.

The other highlight of the class was the little journalist class conducted by Maharina Novia M. Ikom. Junior high school students were encouraged to become critical individuals through good questioning exercises. After that, they were also taught how to convey information or news optimally. Both in writing and verbally like a reporter in a news program.
"We bring and use prompter along with greenscreen to let the junior high school students know and feel how to be a reporter. Read the news, face the camera, and immediately see their own portrait with greenscreen technology. Hopefully it can motivate the children to continue to achieve their dreams," she said.
On the other hand, the Principal of SMAM 3 Bungah Mufrikha S.Pd., M.M. appreciated the program conducted by UMM at the school. Moreover, the three classes are coached in a fun way so that the children are entertained and active. The junior high school students who came also came from various villages in Bungah sub-district.
"Hopefully this activity will be useful for many people. We will definitely implement the other fun programs. Not only targeting junior and senior high school children, but also for the wider community," she concluded. (*wil/put)
